Second Time Around

So, I’m dating Tyler again. Things were good the first time, but I just had some concerns and wasn’t sure about things. We’ve talked a lot about some things and are giving it another shot. I’ve really missed having him around, and I was surprised how jealous I was when he started dating someone else. Bottom line is that we both want what’s best for each other. Thanks for all your prayers as we figure this out!

A lot of my experiences this month (particularly the last two weeks) have been coming in twos.

I went to two Nationals ball games this month. I got some great seats on the 100 level and Tyler came with be on June 14th. I didn’t bring a jacket and it turned out to be a little chilly, but a great experience nonetheless. June 23 we had an afternoon team building experience and I went with some coworkers. There was a whole section of missionaries, so that was fun. One of my bosses had never been to a baseball game previously. There was a funny interaction between her and a young boy (maybe 7 yrs old?). She indicated that this was her first ball game. Initially he seemed somewhat surprised, but then he insisted that she was just trying to trick him! The Nationals are actually doing pretty well. We won both games.

I was able to attend the Kennedy Center twice, which was definitely a treat. June 16 I finally got to see Wicked. I went with co-workers, but someone ended up not being able to make it, so I was able to get the extra ticket and bring Tyler as an early Birthday present. Afterwards we went out back and were able to watch the lightning through the clouds. We missed the exit crowds and were still able to get to the car before the torrential storms and downpour. Only a few days later (June 21) I was at the Kennedy Center again. Russ Bowers was singing in the Songs of Life Festival: A Melancholy Beauty and I went with a few friends. It was an amazing concert. The first half was excellent, and then the second half with the combined choirs was even better.

I only went to one country concert, but I got to see both Sara Evans and Rascal Flatts. What a great concert. I’m looking forward to a few more this summer with my Country Mega Ticket.

I have two new roommates for the summer. Lizzie is only here through the 4th of July. She’s a stage manager for the Shakespeare Theatre Company. Tyler and I were able to go see “Love’s Labors Lost”. I was really impressed with the Actors, especially with the music they added in. Joni is in the Potomac ward, works at the Library of Congress, and will being staying through August.

As fun as the ballgames and concerts were, the best set of information was to hear about two friends who decided to be baptized. I was so humbled to be at Roberta’s baptism, and hear about her experiences the week prior to her baptism. The thought of good, better, and best came to mind. Although I have for the most part been doing good things with my life, I am really missing out on blessings if I don’t seek out the better and best things. I am so grateful for the opportunities that I have, and hope to listen a little closer to what Father in Heaven would have me do. I am looking forward to another baptism on July 17th, and pray that both Alexis and Roberta will be richly blessed for their decisions.
