I was in Seattle and missed the earthquake here in Virginia. A few of the spires fell of the Washington DC temple. Repairs are underway.
I missed hurricane Irene, but was reminded as I came back to empty stores.
We proceeded to have flooding as a result of tropical storm Lee staying overhead for days. Many major and minor roads were closed. I had a sweet friend call me to offer a place to stay as she had heard some of the areas near my house were being evacuated.
I was much more fortunate than many others through these natural disasters. I stayed dry and suffered no damage. I had coworkers who were without power for almost a week, stuck in traffic for hours trying to find ways to get home, and church friends with flooded basements.
This is a picture of the sky when it finally stopped raining. It was so beautiful. A reminder that the sun will eventually come out. And a reminder of how opposition can help us appreciate our blessings so much more.
