Music Notes

I've been singing with a church choir in the area. Here's the info on our concert coming up. It's for mid-singles (30-45).
IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL
Saturday, February 27, 7pm.
An evening of poetry and musice praising Jesus Christ
Tempe Stake Center (at College and Alameda)
Refreshments to follow.

Friday night I went to a country concert in Mesa, sponsored by a local radio station, KNIX. They had 6 different bands singing. I didn't specifically recognize any of their names, but it sounded like a lot of fun, and I'm glad that I went.

I was reading some about Danny Gokey. During the concert he shared some about his engagement to his wife. I don't watch American Idol, but was reading some about him today. I didn't realize that his wife died recently. On his website he shares that "Music was the key place that I would go, and I would let the sorrow come out, let the tears just roll. Some music I would listen to had a determination in it, and I resolved that this is not going to be the thing that destroys me for the rest of my life. It can be turned into a building block, and [I can] become a better person for it. Music brought healing. That's how I got through and still get through it today." I have an additional measure of respect for him. It can be tough, but I agree that music can be part of the healing process.

Brandon Fraley was playing keyboards for Danny Gokey. He is also a songwriter and aspiring artist.

Of course it's the Steel Magnolia song, Keep on Lovin' You that is stuck in my head!

Michael Buble is coming in concert. I'm a recent fan of his music. I was thinking of going, but I actually think just buying some of his music so I can listen to it more regularly might be more worthwhile!

I like Michael Buble, too, recent--well in the last year or so. Very sweet.

We watched Danny Gokey on American Idol and really like him. I guess I didn't know he was country.
