Trip to DC

It’s been almost 7 months since I’ve been back to my house in Alexandria. I was able to arrange a work trip to Baltimore. The timing was great – as I “happened” to arrange it over the weekend of a wedding and turnover in the renters at my house.

For not taking any time off work, I packed in a lot over the weekend.
- I arrived just in time for the wedding reception was Saturday.
- Sunday I ran an errand in the morning. (More about that later)
- I attend church at my family ward. As I sat in the Belle Haven ward, I was overwhelmed at how much I love everyone there. I think it’s a combination of living in the area for a number of years, having the opportunity to serve in the leadership, going through trials together, and just the reality that there are wonderful people in the ward.
- I attended the singles ward. While I love the Belle Haven ward, I am debating about which ward to attend when I move back. (Feel free to try to persuade me…)
- Sunday night I was able to enjoy games with a few friends. I love games. Even if I don’t win.
- Monday morning I worked in the yard. I have to admit that I was impressed that the girls are taking such good care of the lawn. I’ve actually missed working in the yard, so I did a little extra weeding, pruning, and preventative spraying.
- They don’t have Panera Bread in Phoenix, so I took the opportunity to meet a few friends there for lunch.
- After lunch I had just a little more time to do some work around the house.
- Monday night and Tuesday were spent with work stuff. It was really interesting to go to the Baltimore Paper Data Capture Center – the sister facility to what I am doing here in Phoenix.

Home is an interesting concept. It was good to be “home” in DC, and remember how much I feel at home there. It was also good to come back “home” to where I am now living in Arizona. Only a few days before I am back on the road to go “home” to Las Vegas, where my parents live and I graduated High School. It’s kind of weird having more than one place I can call home, but it’s also great feeling to be somewhere you really belong.
