Wedding Day

I met Paul and Sharolyn while I was in Phoenix and was so happy to be able to make it to Utah to share in their wedding day.

I didn't know many of the family and friends, and introduced myself as a friend from Arizona. Sharolyn clarified that I was the one the set them up on their first date, and all of the sudden I was a celebrity! Someone they had all heard about. :-) I made sure to clarify that the success of the relationship itself was all up to them, but it was kind of fun to be able to tell the story.

Things just fell into place. Paul had been Todd's roommate for three years in Ridgecrest, CA. Carma (Todd's Mom) had been so impressed with him, that she suggested that I get to know him since he was living in Arizona. She even went so far as to say that I should marry him! I must say that I was very impressed with him, particularly as I got to know him one on one. He's a great listener and spends a lot of his time doing good.

Shortly before I left Arizona, I coordinated a group to go together to Kartchner Caverns. Paul was initially interested, but then changed his plans. Sharolyn was a friend from choir and Tempe Singles stuff. She was also interested in going, but then wasn't feeling well and had to back out. I ended up with 2 extra tickets that day that were good for a year in the future. I asked Paul if he would take Sharolyn out later as a date, and the rest is history.

I really can't take much credit. I thought about Todd a lot this weekend. He deserves a little of the credit for coordinating all this. I know he enjoyed the sealing of his good friend. My first date with Todd was a long road trip as well. Over the weekend I got to see Todd's parents (who came down from Boise for the wedding reception), his brother Scott, and visit with the family of one of his high school friends. Speaking of Russ, - He claims he's set up at least a dozen successful couples. Well, this was my first (if you don't count my college roommate who stole away the guy I was dating), but it was great to see such fabulous, genuine and sincere people so happy together.
