New Dungeness Lighthouse is another one of those lighthouses that is a little difficult to visit. It's on the Dungenss Wildlife Refuge, 5 1/2 miles out on a sandspit. Rather than the 11 mile hike during low tide, we took a kayak. Even though the weather was gorgeous, I did get a little wet/chilly. They provided "skirts" for the kayaks, so that was nice that our lower half didn't get wet. We saw snow-capped mountains. We saw seals. I loved the sign greeting the hikers. Serenity (towards the lighthouse), or reality.
