In Phoenix this week "for work".

I arrived last Saturday, and have been fortunate to visit a lot of the area and to spend some time with family and friends. For some reason the first part of my week remains undocumented by photos. I guess I was just too lazy to get my camera out. I had Mexican food a few times, with a former roommate and her husband, the Bayles family and a friend of theirs, and my cousins who live here. Tom and Kristen are expecting their first. I was hoping to see their new baby while I was here. He was due March 3, so we hope he comes soon!

My Tuesday meeting was canceled, so I worked from the hotel in the morning. Since I had to transfer hotels, I had to find something to do in the afternoon. It was rough, but I followed up on the suggestion to go to a spring training baseball game. I watched the Los Angelos Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 5 to 4. It was a good game, with 2 broken baseball bats, two home runs, and great weather. Some of the people around me pointed out Tommy Lasorda sitting with the Dodgers. Can you see him?

The Marriott Camelback Inn where we had out conference was pretty nice. We got out a little early on Wednesday, and I hiked Camelback Mountain. I went a little slower than some others who were racing up and down the mountain, but it was good exercise, and great views.

Overall the conference went well. We got both positive feedback and suggestions for improvement, which will be a big part of the operational assessment I need to write.
Thursday I had dinner with a friend from DC. This time we branched out to something other than Mexican. I have even more friends in the area that I will have to catch next time!
