I have been having computer “problems” at home and at work for the last several weeks. I think I have everything back up and running now, and hope it will stay that way!
Early this year I gave up BYUTV and I switched to a cable package, where I get cable, phone, and internet bundled. The internet had been intermittently going down, and after after several days of not working at all, I arranged to have someone come check (and fix the problem). The transmission was not in the desired range, so he fixed that, and got the internet to work again, but then the wireless router stopped working. We had internet, but only when connected directly to the downstairs location. There have been a few times even since the technician came that the internet has not been working, and a computer reboot has been needed to solve the problem. Odd! We weren’t able to get tech support on the old wireless router, so today I went and bought a new one. I am crossing my fingers that it continues to work! It really is nice to have wireless internet at home.
In addition to the connectivity problems, my home and work computers have been requested for a criminal investigation. This is an investigation of John Bloxham's activities, on something different than Todd’s murder. I was without a computer at work almost all of the first week in May. Fortunately I saved most all my work on shared network drives, as we are advised to do, so I don’t think I lost much information. They will probably have my work computer for a number of months. I had a hard time when some of my co-workers were outraged that I would have to go without a computer for a while. Yes, it was inconvenient to be without my normal vehicle to conduct work, but honestly, that is nothing compared to all the other loss I’ve had to go through. I guess it’s good sign that seems to indicate that I haven’t let the devastation in my personal life and ongoing matters related to John, Todd, or Devin, have an obvious impact on my work.
I also provided my laptop, and old hard drive for the investigation. There was a quick turn around on that, as they made their forensic copy, and got my computer right back to me. I hope they find something that helps in Prince William’s investigation.
