John Bloxham Sentencing

Although the jury made a recommendation of 35 years at the end of the murder trial in March, on Friday, May 16, 2008 the judge made the final sentence. I am happy to report that he did not go lower than the sentence the jury recommended, and John was sentenced to 35 years in the State Pennitentary.

After arguments from the prosecution and the defense, John was given an opportunity to talk. John did not apologize or say anything for himself. The judge said that the victim impact statements in this case were the most comprehensive and moving he has seen or ever anticipates seeing. Thank you for all those who contributed, and to Jeannie who put it all together with pictures! We plan to scan the booklet and make copies available shortly to those who may be interested.

It was great to hear the judge acknowledge what he had learned about Todd from the impact statements. Todd Rogers was a wonderful and caring young man. He was intelligent, talented and very important man to his country as well as his family and loved ones. He is greatly missed, but will continue to be an inspiration of good and sacrifice as long as we remember him.
