Building Blocks

I'm not the best at finishing projects - even though it's such a great feeling when you do.

I started the quilt in the spring of 2007. It was meant for my brother Adam for his college graduation. When I met Todd I made some other priorities with my time and it was put it away for a while.

I decided that I would finish the quilt before I returned to Washington DC from my Phoenix adventure. I asked my Mom to use her sewing machine, and she helped with so much more. Thanks Mom! I don't know that I would have finished it without you!

Finishing the quilt felt so good for a number of reasons. Adam studies astronomy, and it just reminds me of the vast universe, the infinite power of God, and our infinite potential as His sons and daughters. I love how great accomplishments (such as completing a Bachelor's degree) can be stepping stones to even greater things.

The last three years have definitely been filled with some highs and lows in my life. I am not sure what my Father in Heaven has in store for me, but somehow I know that the light and dark fabrics both play an important role in my development.
