Big Thank Yous

Some fun notes, candy, flowers and things to help make it through the week!


I cannot express my appreciation to everyone - there are just so many!

First of all - Thank you to all those in the legal system who contributed in bringing this case to justice. Thank you to Fairfax County Police Department and Detectives. Thank you to Katie Swart, the prosecuting attorney. Thank you to Judge Maxfield. Thank you to the Jurors (who with the gun, the gloves, and the timing of things were able to see Todd's death for the heinous crime that it was). Many experts and law enforcement officers spent hours at the courthouse, just waiting to testify. Some of them didn't even have the opportunity to get up and testify. Thank you to Jeannie Kuley and Victim's services for helping to make the wait bearable.

Thank you to the Rogers family. It is devastating to lose a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a grandchild, etc. You have faced this loss with hope for the future and a desire to make the best out of a bad situation. Your faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ really comes through in your attitudes and how you live your life. Your welcome arms to include me as part of the family, despite my connection with why Todd was murdered, has been so humbling. You truly have the pure love of Christ with you and will be blessed greatly for how you have handled this tragedy.

Thank you to my good friend Nicole. Nicole has been by my side through thick and thin. She has dedicated so many hours in listening to my woes and helping me work out the best course of action. She takes great notes and her memory has been great in helping talk through things. I know that she will be greatly blessed by her service at this time, and am looking forward to our continued friendship and seeing many great things come her way!

None of my family lives close, but they have all been super supportive. They can probably all attest to the increased volume of calls I have made this last 8 1/2 months, just wanting someone to talk to. Their listening ears, prayers and patience have provided a greater sense of sanity. My Mom and Josh were here last week for the trial, and were able to be here to wait and celebrate with me.

I have so many other good friends who I want to thank. I hesitate to even start naming names. Many friends in the singles program knew both me and John. Many friends in the ward knew both me and John. Several friends and coworkers at the Census Bureau knew both me and John. They have all been greatly impacted, with their own sense of betrayal, their own concerns for safety, in addition to concerns for me and the Rogers family. Extended family and friends from across the years have also been impacted as they hear of this great loss.

It is humbling just thinking about the phone calls that have been made, the offers for help, the cards, the prayers, the emails, and overall concern that has been exhibited.
