This weekend will be the 178th General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. During church on Sunday many comments were made the upcoming General Conference.
In two separate meetings it was suggested that we thoughtfully go into our meetings this weekend with some questions. They could be doctrinal questions, or more along the lines of personal life questions. What a special opportunity for inspiration to come as we devote 8 or 10 or 2 or 6 hours to listening to the prophets and those called to leadership positions. I distinctly remember doing this a few years ago, and my question was answered. Unfortunately I can't remember what my question was, but I know it works, and I remember how grateful I felt for my Father in Heaven and how He knew and was aware of my concerns. So, my challenge to you is to listen with Faith this weekend, and have some specific questions in mind. Don't expect to be called out my name in conference to be told your answer, but do expect to hear something, or even just have an impression come to mind that will help you in the decisions you need to make or the peace you are seeking in your life at this time.
I spend most of my time at church in with the children in Primary. All of the kids are fabulous, but some of the children are a little more eager to learn and participate than others. One of the girls was not interested in our new prophet, President Monson. I had a chance to talk to her one on one, and it was touching how sad she was that President Hinckley was no longer the Prophet and President of the church. I know that members of all ages may take a little time to adjust, and what a perfect example of the process to acquire truth. Some are blessed to know, without question or concern that Pres Monson is a prophet of God. Others may believe, but not yet know. Others may not be sure at all. With a similar amount of prayer and faith, the answer may come sooner to some and take longer for others, but eventually the answer will come. There is not a right or wrong way, or time period to know. It is not our place to judge, but only to encourage, and to testify of what we do know. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God, and it is a pleasure for me to be able to share that testimony.
