Kauai - What Went Right (Everything Else!)

We saw a wide variety of terrain on Kauai – we saw a lot of waterfalls, lush valleys and mountains, beaches, palm trees, caves, red rocks, canyons, and even a blow hole.

Here I am with Tiffanie and Jen at the Kalalau Lookout in Waimea Canyon. It's known as the Grand Canyon of the South Pacific, and is just breath-taking.

The island seemed to have a ton of chickens, just hanging out at the rest stops, wooded areas, or wherever.

There were lots of signs near he beaches encouraging people to stay safe. All six of these signs were right next to each other. We even heard the slogan “If in doubt, don't go out” on the radio. But, of course it did not keep us out of the ocean. :-)

Also, I was particularly interested in viewing and reading about the island of Niihau, just west of Kauai. This island was particularly difficult to obtain accurate source material for when the Census Bureau underwent our recent efforts to update the positional accuracy of the roads in the U.S.
